Reputon and Reviewz solve overlapping but different problems: Reputon imports existing Trustpilot reviews to Shopify display widgets, while Reviewz collects new reviews across multiple platforms with NPS pre-filtering and WhatsApp/SMS outreach. Pick Reputon if you have a mature Trustpilot profile and just need display. Pick Reviewz if you're building review volume from scratch or want multi-platform routing. Reviewz includes Reputon-equivalent display via free widget generators.
Quick answer: which one for your store?
The decision is simpler than most comparison articles make it. If you already have a Trustpilot profile with 100+ reviews and just want to display them on your Shopify store with minimal setup, Reputon's import-and-embed workflow takes 5 minutes. If you're building review volume from zero, or you want reviews on multiple platforms, Reviewz handles the collection workflow that Reputon doesn't have. New to the platform itself? Start with our primer on what Trustpilot is before deciding how to display it.

This guide breaks down the actual feature differences, pricing, and the migration path between them. We've worked with merchants on both. If you want to widen the search, our roundup of the best Shopify review apps compares eight platforms side by side.

Reputon focuses on importing and displaying existing Trustpilot reviews, not collecting new ones.
The fundamental difference
Reputon is a display layer. It pulls reviews you already have on Trustpilot and shows them on your Shopify store via widgets. The flow stops there.

Reviewz is a full review collection workflow. After each Shopify order, it sends an NPS survey, routes promoters to leave a public review on the platform of your choice (Trustpilot, Google, Judge.me), catches detractors privately, and re-engages every reviewer with upsell offers via WhatsApp, email, and SMS.
Practically: Reputon assumes you'll handle review collection elsewhere (manually or via Trustpilot's own paid Invitation Service at €250+/month). Reviewz includes the entire collection workflow in its free tier.

When Reputon is the better choice
- You already have 200+ Trustpilot reviews and just need them visible on your Shopify product pages
- You exclusively use Trustpilot and don't want Google/Judge.me reviews (if you're still deciding between those channels, see Trustpilot vs Google reviews)
- You handle review invitations through Klaviyo, email manually, or Trustpilot's own paid invitation service
- Display speed matters more than collection workflow
When Reviewz is the better choice
- You're building review volume from scratch (under 100 reviews on any platform)
- You want multi-platform coverage (Trustpilot for brand-level + Judge.me for product-level + Google for local SEO), the same multi-channel logic we apply in Reviewz vs Judge.me and Reviewz vs Yotpo
- You want NPS pre-filtering to reduce 1-star public reviews from unhappy customers
- You want WhatsApp / SMS outreach in addition to email (review collection rates are 2-3x higher)
- You don't want to pay Trustpilot €250/month for their Invitation Service
The hybrid approach (most merchants)
For Shopify stores with an existing Trustpilot profile (50+ reviews), the smart play is often Reviewz for new collection + a free Trustpilot widget for display. Use our free Trustpilot section generator to embed your Trustpilot reviews on Shopify without paying for Reputon's display widget. Then use Reviewz for the ongoing collection workflow.

This combination delivers Reputon's display value + Reviewz's collection power at the cost of just Reviewz (which has a free tier). Displaying reviews on-site also feeds the SEO side, both the rich-snippet and branded-SERP wins covered in how customer reviews affect SEO and the AI-citation wins in our AEO for ecommerce reviews playbook.
Pricing comparison (real numbers)
| Reviewz | Reputon | |
|---|---|---|
| Free tier | Yes, full collection + display | Limited displays only |
| Starter paid | From free | From around $9/month |
| Mid-tier | Free + paid options | $19-$39/month |
| Setup time | 15 minutes (Shopify install) | 5 minutes (Trustpilot connect) |
| Annual contract required | No | No |
Migrating between them
Switching from Reputon to Reviewz is straightforward because Reputon stores almost no original data, your reviews live on Trustpilot, not in Reputon. Steps:
- Install Reviewz on your Shopify store (5 min)
- Connect your Trustpilot profile in Reviewz (uses Trustpilot OAuth, 2 min)
- Configure NPS workflow + invitation timing (10 min)
- Either keep Reputon's widget for display, or switch to our free Trustpilot widget generator
- Optional: uninstall Reputon
Migrating from Reviewz to Reputon: less common, but if your only goal is Trustpilot display and you don't need the workflow, you can disable Reviewz's collection layer and install Reputon for display. Most merchants who try this end up keeping both.

The bottom line
Reputon is good at one thing: showing existing Trustpilot reviews on Shopify. Reviewz is the broader workflow tool for merchants building review volume across multiple platforms. Most stores eventually need both functions, but Reviewz includes Reputon-equivalent display via free widget generators, while Reputon doesn't include Reviewz's collection workflow at any tier.
If you're starting fresh: Reviewz. If you have a mature Trustpilot profile and just want display: Reputon. If you have both needs: Reviewz alone covers them.
